The dangers of egg hunting in the desert...

Always watch out for the cacti!  Cru was mostly upset because he had to slow down his egg collection while Rick pulled the chunk of cactus out of his head!

An Egg Hunt With A View

What a beautiful backdrop for the egg hunt.  Thanks, Hummels for inviting us!

can we keep him?

Seth and his friend found some baby kittens on their way home from school.  He was pretty bummed when we told him that he had to take this guy back so that his mama could find him.

sprouting

we might not have full blown wheat grass by Easter, but we'll definitely have something!

Front Porch Picnic in Pajamas

the boys took off for Seth's first baseball practice, so MaKaty and I decided to have a picnic dinner on the front porch.  (Hannah declined and ate her dinner in the kitchen)  It was a beautiful evening.

Water Balloon War

The neighbors were filling up water balloons, and of course my kids could not resist.  MaKaty got soaked more than once this day.  I'm sure there will be many more water balloon wars in the future!

Fun with the Curtis Family

We spent much of the day with the Curtis', our friends from our Village days.  We all had a great time with them, and their new baby Sasha.  But the best pairing of the day was MaKaty and Kaleb.  Those two were best buds by the time the day was up.

a present in a pinch

Hannah needed a birthday present for a party that afternoon.  (dont' you love it when they forget to give you the invitation until the night before?)  She told me that her friend liked all things British, and stuffed giraffes.  I intended to get a giraffe, but they were fresh out.  (must not be giraffe season).  I hurried to the jewelry section, bought a chain and some charms, and came home and made the flag out of a floral pebble and an image from the internet.  I think it turned out pretty cute!

Derby Time!

Seth attended his first Pinewood Derby.  He had a lot of fun.  His car was right in the middle of the pack.  He was pretty happy about that, considering there were 42 cars in the races!

Our entertainment

They have been digging a basement on the lot behind us.  Seth set up camp and just watched them work for a while.

Lego Mania!

I made the mistake of saying that we could put together Cru's big lego set after dinner.  It was a much bigger project than I had thought.  The kids went to bed WAY too late!

Spring!

I was so excited to see these blossoms pop out on our tree in the front yard.  I am so happy to see the signs of spring everywhere!

St. Patrick's Day

I made some mustache suckers for St. Patrick's Day, since we were having family over for a birthday party for Cru and Marcie.  They were a hit!

Our trip to the moon

We went on an adventure with Grandpa to White Pocket, Arizona.  Which my kids refer to as the surface of the moon.

Sprinkler Time

I bought a sprinkler attachment for 2$.  I had visions of the kids running through the sprinkler, but the water pressure was too low, and it only got about a foot off the ground.  (we have to figure out what is up with that)  But the boy improvised, and made himself a little shower.

Snow Canyon Spiderweb

We met up with Marcie and the kids at Snow Canyon, where they were camping.  We went on a hike, and then the kids spotted this spiderweb at the camp ground.  We had tin foil dinners, made s'mores, and headed home.  Perfect night!

Strategy

This is the face Cru gives me when he really wants something.  Like cookies, before bedtime.

Starting Spring Break off right!

We filled up the pool and were joined by the neighbor kids, too.  They played all afternoon.

Why do they call it a sleepover?

Lele was in town and wanted to spend a night at our house.  The kids were happy to have her.  Karen and Tirsa came, too.  And a dance party ensued.  We even ended up with Chrissy and Christian at our house for the night.  Party!  This picture was taken on the 11th, but the party started on the 10th.  I think this was around 1am.  My poor kids were zombies the rest of the day!

Soaking it in.

Cru fully enjoyed his birthday party at Grandma and Papas.  They made macaroni and cheese for his dinner, and everyone told him why they loved him.  And he even reminded them of the things they forgot to say.  He was definitely not shy about being the center of attention this day!

My Superhero

Cru was all set for his Superhero Birthday Party.  Er, I mean, Captain America was ready for his party...that's what I meant.

Happy Birthday, little dude.

Finally Four.  Four year olds get to go to Disneyland, you know.  At least that's what he reminds us of every.single.day.

Fun With Kare Bear

Karen sent me this shot of her taking the kids on the long board.  Looks like it was a hit!

Building Skyscrapers

or painting boxes, if you must be technical...  Getting ready for Cru's superhero party

Debunked.

Rick had this theory that I was a blanket thief.  Yet when he was out of town, this is what the bed looked like when I woke up.  I think we've figured out who the rowdy sleeper is, eh?  I sent him this cell phone picture as proof.  Also, as a side note, when Rick is out of town, I have to sleep on his side of the bed.  Weird, I know...but it works for me.  Otherwise I just toss and turn.

Library time?

Part of our library ritual is to get in the elevator, ride it to the next level, let the doors open, then push the button to go back to the main level.  Cru REALLY enjoys the elevator ride.  People probably think that we're crazy...but they wouldn't if they could see this face every time.

Makeshift Hoop

Seth was so proud of the basketball court he built using abandoned construction materials.  Very clever, dude.

Sand, at last.

it may seem crazy to buy a bag of play sand when your whole backyard is dirt, but the dirt in our yard is not good for digging.  The kids played in the tiny sandbox for hours this day.
