Climbing Kids

We went to Rick's work party at the WAC.  We were allowed to do the rock wall before we got in the pool.  Seth, MaKaty and Cru all climbed the wall.  Seth got the farthest.  It was fun to watch!

I found this in a pile of Hannah's homework.  She draws things like this all the time.  I am sure there are so so many that I never see.  I wish I had skills like that!

"Game On"

I had the windows open, enjoying the cooler fall air, and I heard the kids in the street screaming, "Game on!" after a car would go by, and they would resume their barefoot football game. 

Like a good neighbor...

Seth's buddy came over with a shovel when he saw us outside spreading our dirt.  We have such great neighbors!

The Scooter Brigade

Ever since they completed a cross walk over the busy road between our house and the school, the kids have been riding their scooters to school.  Along with half the neighborhood.  Safety in numbers, right?

I had a date with this handsome guy this morning while his Mama was at a job interview.  Shhhh, don't tell Rick!

Rock Gardener

After a unit on rocks in his preschool class, Cru was excited to bring home the beginnings of his rock garden.  It was just a colored sponge in the bottom of a cup, but within a couple of days it was a mass of fuzz.  Within a week, it had grown out of it's cup.  Cru was so proud of his rock garden!

Go Sharks!

We got to watch Cru in his first soccer game.  He was an adorable mix of clueless and aggressive.  It's going to be an interesting season!

500 Miles

With a 10 mile night run, I officially reached my goal of 500 miles.  And it felt pretty darn good!

Mr. President

We attended a banquet for the APWA, where Rick was given an award for his service as the president of the local APWA chapter.  Great job, Babe!

When I asked Cru what was all over his face, he looked up at me and said, "Nothing!  There is nothing on my face." Nice try, Bud!

growing in the desert

MaKaty carried this chunk of dried mud home from school.  She was very attached to the tiny plant attempting to grow in the center.  She was unable to keep it alive for long, though.  Still, she had a good time trying!

David

Quite possibly the favorite of all the things MaKaty has brought home from school.  We love the "No, David" books, and it makes me smile to see it up on the fridge.

football dreams

Seth totally wishes he was playing tackle football, but we are not too keen on the idea.  So he dresses up in this jersey, with a life jacket underneath...knee pads attached to the shoulders and elbows, and a facemask made out of cardboard.  Keep dreaming, buddy!

they were almost as excited to hop on the baggage cart at the hotel as they were to ride the rides at Disneyland, silly kids!

Sleeping Beauty's Castle

Rick was not happy about stopping to get our picture taken, but I couldn't let the whole trip go by without the iconic castle picture!  And the Disney photo pass guy even took one with our camera!

Grizzly River Rapids

This ride cemented itself as a family favorite on this trip.  The kids loved trying to guess who would get the bulk of the splash.  And since the crowds were so low, we got to ride it over and over and over again!  We were a wet (and happy) bunch of people!

Beach Day

We spent the day on the beach.  A tide pool beach in the morning, and a beach next to the pier in the afternoon.  It was a near perfect day!

Fighting "Dark" Vader

The shirt was effective, and Cru was chosen first.  He was trained in the ways of the Jedi, and ended up in an epic battle with "Dark" Vader himself.  It was so fun to watch, and Cru was thrilled.

Cars Land

We had not been to Cars Land since it opened.  We were all excited to ride the Radiator Springs Racers ride.  And we were not disappointed.  It was a blast!

The Home-tel

We drove most of the day, and then spent a few hours with Grandma, Pam, George, Kathy, and families.  I didn't break out the camera until we were safely in our hotel room.  The kids loved having their own space in the little drop-down room.  Cru loved the hotel so much, and took to calling it the "home-tel".

Let the games begin!

I ran 22 miles that morning in preparation for the marathon.  I finished just in time to make it to Seth's game.  I am glad I made it, because just 10 minutes after I got there, he scored a goal.  Looks like the season is off to a good start!

Subtle? No.

but hopefully effective!  I am making a shirt for Cru to wear at Disneyland on the day that we will be doing the Jedi Training Academy.  Here's hoping it works and he gets picked!

Enjoy the view

There was a beautiful rainbow right in our backyard.  The only thing is, we know that the view will soon be gone.  They are ready to build on the lot behind us.

First Day

Cru had his first day of preschool today.  My baby is getting so big!

Run Ready

I have a system for getting ready the night before a run.  I check my mp3 player to make sure it's charged.  I lay out my running clothes.  I prepare my bottles with water or gatorade.  I make sure I have the right sources of energy while I run.  And the last thing I do is set my alarm, always with the title "Wake up. Run. Be Awesome."

Happy Birthday Papa!

Lele planned a cute party for Papa's 60th birthday.  The kids had lots of fun in the photobooth.

So sweet

Cru fell asleep in the car on the way to Soren's house.  We laid him down on the floor and when I went to check on him, I found Soren like this.  Dragon all ready and waiting for Cru to wake up and play with them.
